3 Positional Groups to watch in Training Camp

(Icon Sportswire/Getty Images)

Training camp is always a special time of year. The team starts with 90 players, then it cuts down to 75 and finally, we get down to the 53 man roster. The Steelers have a lot of fringe players who can be cut down before week 1 of the regular season. So, I wanted to talk about some of the positional groups to watch.

Quarterback

In the quarterback position, the Steelers have quite a surplus of talent. They have Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins, Josh Dobbs, and Roland Rivers III. The spot here to watch is the QB3 spot.

Will it be Dobbs or Haskins? Or, could it end up being Rivers? Personally, I think Haskins is a lock for QB3, however, if he ends up messing up horrible in camp, he could lose his spot to Dobbs who has more experience in the league.

Still, I would bet on Haskins being the QB3 because of his potential and how young he is. Plus, if I were the GM that's the guy I would rather have on my team.

Special Teams

Specifically, I would watch the Punter position. Could it be Jordan Berry once again? Or will it end up being Pressley Harvin III the absolute tank of a human out of Georgia Tech? Who knows what will happen here. The Steelers have shown that they like him quite a bit.

However, the Steelers spent a draft pick on Pressley Harvin III and I think if he shows up to camp and kicks well, I think that Pressley could end up being the Steelers starting Punter in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season.

Linebacker

The Steelers have quite a selection of Linebackers to choose from this offseason. They even brought back Vince Williams. So, Devin Bush is back, he's easily a lock to make the team once again. So, who makes it beside him? Personally, I would love for Robert Spillane to be alongside him.

This is a tough positional group to predict. However, I trust the front office to make the right decision. Still, my pick for that group would be Devin Bush, Robert Spillane, Vince Williams, and Marcus Allen. I could be wrong and that's okay. As I said, I'm no expert.
