Alan Faneca always seems to get so close to entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In fact, he has been a finalist six times but always comes up short in the final vote. Faneca played 10 seasons with the Steelers and was honored in the Steelers Hall of Honor. Faneca was selected as a six-time All-Pro and was named to the Steelers All-Time Team in 2007.
Jerome Bettis on Alan Faneca: "His ability to play that position, dominate at that position, but be athletic enough to move around and travel from the standpoint of pulling as an offensive lineman was rare," said Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis. "Usually when you do it, it doesn't end in success. When Alan pulled, we had a tremendous amount of success with our ability to pull."
Bill Nunn is being nominated as a Contributor Finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Nunn contributed 46 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bill Nunn was one of the architects of the Pittsburgh Steelers Dynasty in the 1970's. Nunn was a Scout, Assistant Director Player Personnel, and Senior Scout. Nunn was very pivotal in the evolution of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In fact, Bill Nunn was the scout who assembled the 1974 draft class for the Steelers which included Lynn Swann, linebacker Jack Lambert, Stallworth and center Mike Webster. Art Rooney II is ecstatic he is nominated as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
Art Rooney II on Bill Nunn becoming a finalist in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: "I am beyond thrilled to hear Bill Nunn has been selected a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor," said Steelers President Art Rooney II at the time of the announcement. "Bill's contributions to the Steelers were extraordinary over the 46 years he was part of the organization. He was a special person who was a close friend and mentor before his passing in 2014. His lessons and stories are still evident in our everyday work.
More Art Rooney II on Bill Nunn becoming a finalist in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: "I look forward to hopefully celebrating his induction at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His legacy and career deserve to be recognized with the greatest individual honor in football, and we are excited he was chosen by the Contributor Committee as a finalist."
Bill Nunn should be a lock to make it into the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is an absolute legend. Still unsure if Alan Faneca will get in this time around, but he is more than deserving to make it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will vote virtually on January 19th for the Class of 2021's Pro Football Hall of Fame. Let's hope both Bill Nunn and Alan Faneca make it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
