Urban Meyer lasted just 13 games with the Jaguars before the organization had enough off of his tyranny. Meyer treated NFL players like they were college kids and was a control freak. He also was an egomaniac who belittled his coaching staff. It was just a flat-out disaster, which was incredibly predictable. It was an awful hire by the Jaguars, and really desperate, as it appeared that the hire was to try to sell tickets in Jacksonville given Meyer's success at Florida.
News broke on Wednesday that Meyer kicked former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo in the leg. Lambo said Meyer told him, "Hey dips--t, make your f--king kicks!' And then kicked him in the leg. ... Really bizarre behavior.
After a laundry list of issues with Meyer, the Lambo report was the one that finally did him in, as Shahid Khan had enough and put an end to the mess.
Former Steelers guard and Hall of Famer Alan Faneca chimed in on the Meyer news on Twitter this morning, and said Meyer wasn't built for the NFL.
"Not everyone is built to run with the big boys," Faneca tweeted. "Plenty of good/great college players and coaches can not do it in the NFL."
Meyer now joins a long list of college coaches who have failed at the NFL level. Chris Wormley believes Jim Harbaugh is the greatest college to NFL coach ever.
