After being on the coaching staff of a Buccaneers team that went on to win the Super Bowl three days ago, former Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle El is expected to be hired by the Lions as their wide receivers coach, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
Randle El coached under Arians in Tampa Bay from 2019-2020 as an offensive assistant. Arians coached Randle El in Pittsburgh as his position coach and was the offensive coordinator in Randle El's second stint with the team in 2010.
In his nine-year career, five seasons with the Steelers and four in Washington, Randle El had 370 receptions for 4,467 yards (12.1 average) and 15 touchdowns. Randle El played quarterback in college at Indiana, so he was a weapon as a passer as well.
In his career, Randle El completed 22 of 27 passes (81.5%) for 323 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions, along with having a superb quarterback rating of up 156.1.
The biggest throw of his career came in Super Bowl XL at Ford Field when he completed a 43-yard touchdown pass to Hines Ward on a reverse play to give the Steelers a 21-10 lead in the fourth quarter that they wouldn't squander.
Randle El will now be coaching in the same city where he made that incredible touchdown pass in Super Bowl XL.
