Ben Roethlisberger is going to be walking into the 2021 NFL season as a 39-year-old quarterback. Many of the National Media have been calling Ben Roethlisberger 'washed up' this offseason. Surprisingly the only two analysts who still have faith in Ben Roethlisberger in regards to the National Media are Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith. Bayless likes the 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers chances with a much more committed Ben Roethlisberger. That seems to be what the Steelers are getting so far during voluntary OTAs.
The Steelers franchise quarterback showed up the very first day of OTAs. Did I mention they were voluntary? I think I did... Ben will be an 18-year veteran so he really didn't need to show up to voluntary OTAs, but he feels he needs to commit to the Steeler's new offensive scheme in 2021. Not only does he need to figure out how the Steelers are going to operate on the offensive side of the ball, but he will have a new best friend in the backfield. Over the past couple of weeks, much of the media has witnessed the relationship Roethlisberger is building with Najee Harris.
If the Steelers want to be successful in 2021 it will fall on what type of Ben Roethlisberger shows up. Bleacher Report feels the biggest question for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 is if Ben Roethlisberger has one more run left in him? They question whether Ben Roethlisberger can make a deep playoff run with the Steelers this season... I do agree with Bleacher Report saying Ben Roethlisberger is the biggest question mark, but I believe the true question cannot be answered right now.
Does Ben Roethlisberger end up staying healthy during the 2021 season? That seems to be my biggest question because the Steeler's success will depend on Ben Roethlisberger staying upright throughout the season. If Ben Roethlisberger goes down they will have Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins, or Josh Dobbs to take over for him. We have seen what Rudolph and Dobbs are capable of, but if Haskins makes it onto the team this season it will be interesting to see how he would do... I still believe Ben Roethlisberger gives the Steelers the best chance to win for the Pittsburgh Steelers depending on if he can stay healthy on the football field for the entire season.
