Bleacher Report has the Steelers selecting Edge Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Hurricanes in Round 1

It is officially Mock Draft Season! Many big sports pages will mock who they think will go to each team in the 2021 NFL Draft. Everyone will normally predict who the Pittsburgh Steelers will take but seldom do they get it right. Although the Steelers are very unpredictable in the NFL Draft they typically always have a top 10 draft class every single season.

Bleacher Report just recently did their latest mock draft and it has the Steelers selecting at an unusual position (Edge). Right now the Steelers have needs at quarterback, running back, the offensive line, and other important areas over the edge position. Bleacher Report seems to be mocking based on who the best available would be to the Steelers at pick 24. Bleacher says the Steelers won't find a replacement in the 2021 NFL draft for Ben Roethlisberger. They also feel the Steelers will not find a replacement for Maurkice Pouncey either.

The Steelers could survive losing Alejandro Villanueva by bringing back both Zach Banner and Matt Feiler. There is a very good chance the Steelers will not be able to afford to bring back one of their best edge rushers in the offseason (Bud Dupree).

BR says the Steelers will be selecting Miami Hurricanes Jaelan Phillips who is extremely physical and sports an impressive motor. Phillips does have injury concerns, but his ceiling is extremely high. He registered 15.5 tackles for loss and 8 sacks in the ACC. If the Steelers were to draft Phillips he would not have to be as dominant from the get-go because the Steelers defense is already dominant.
