Bob Labriola says the Steelers will look to add a Feature RB in the Draft rather than Free Agency

The much-anticipated debate will get even hotter after reading Bob Labriola's recent comment on his newest Asked and Answered column. In my opinion, I believe the Steeler's newest running back will be either 4 running backs from the 2021 NFL draft. Those names are Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, Javonte Williams, or Michael Carter. It will depend on who the Steelers feel is the most complete back heading into the 2021 draft.

In Bob Labriola's latest Asked and Answered Column there was a question about Najee Harris, Free Agency, and Aaron Jones. Labriola says "You might be sold on the Steelers using their No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft on Najee Harris, and I might agree with you, but what we think doesn't matter once the team is on the clock. By your question, I am going to assume you're referring specifically to running backs, and I can tell you is that in search for a feature back, the Steelers will look to the draft instead of free agency."

It would make sense for the Steelers to add their feature back through the draft rather than going through free agency because they need to get younger on the offensive side of the ball. The question is will the Steelers trade up or stay at No. 24. I could see Najee Harris or Travis Etienne coming off of the board before they pick at No. 24. Notice the word or in between Harris and Travis. The reason I say that is because only one could be off the board and the other should be on the board when the Steelers pick. Both will not make it into the second round by the time the Steelers will pick again, but Javonte Williams could be there in the Second Round. Michael Carter will definitely be there in the Second Round.

Another factor would be what the Dolphins decide to do in free agency. If the Dolphins do not come to terms on a deal with Aaron Jones or Jones decides to re-sign with the Packers then the Dolphins could select Najee or Etienne. It has been reported the Dolphins and Aaron Jones have mutual interest. The 18th pick with the Dolphins will be the tell-tale sign if Najee or Travis falls to the Steelers in the 2021 NFL draft.
