Normally when we head into the offseason after the NFL draft there isn't much to talk about so sports analysts try to drum up some form of drama to get clicks on their articles by saying outlandish things. One analyst recently said the Bengals can win more games than the Steelers in 2021 and that Joe Burrow is a better quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger. As far as I am concerned Joe Burrow couldn't even finish his first season in the NFL without getting killed on the football field. Ben Roethlisberger ended up staying upright all season long at 39 years old and put up bigger numbers than Burrow.
CBS Adam Schein on Joe Burrow and Ben Roethlisberger: "Let me tell you something. I can't wait to see what Joe Burrow's going to do in a full season," Schein said. "I think Joe Burrow is gonna be an absolute star. Love that they drafted his LSU teammate, Ja'Marr Chase. They were incredible together at LSU. I think Chase is gonna be a rock star. Burrow's gonna be amazing. They have other big-time weapons at receiver. Mixon running the football. And I'm telling you right now: The Bengals are going to surprise some people. They can beat Minnesota (Week 1). They can beat Jacksonville (Week 4). They could beat Chicago depending on the quarterback situation for the Bears (Week 2). (We'll) see who the quarterback is in Green Bay (Week 5). They could certainly beat the Lions (Week 6) and beat the Jets (Week 8) to start the season. And I'm gonna say it again: Cincinnati can win more games than the Pittsburgh Steelers because they have a better quarterback. This is great news for the Cincinnati Bengals and for the NFL."
The National Media are just not big fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers going into the 2021 season, but you can't sit here and say the Cincinnati Bengals are better than the Pittsburgh Steelers especially after the Steelers won the AFC North in 2021. Joe Burrow might be an amazing quarterback, but if his offensive line cannot protect him he will not stay healthy on the football field to even compete with the other AFC North quarterbacks. So that statement on Burrow being better than Roethlisberger is just outright outlandish.
The Bengals ended up going 4-11 in 2020 and finishing last in the AFC North. At one point the Steelers were 11-0 until they were exposed due to their running game. The Steelers ended up finishing the season 12-4 without a running game. Now Najee Harris will be in the backfield for the Steelers and now the Steelers will not be one-dimensional any longer. So good luck with an asinine statement like Adam Schein saying the Bengals will have a better record than the Steelers in 2021.
