Dwayne Haskins Jr. has been getting some praise from people within the organization. However, I want to remind everyone that this is Football in shorts and it's very different from when we see Football in pads.
Still, he's a very gifted quarterback and I hope that the structure of the Steelers will end up helping him and his career. Just need him to stay on the straight and narrow in Pittsburgh and keep working and from there, he's a lock to make the team.
Does he have a shot at the QB2 spot? Possibly. However, I think the Steelers would keep Mason at the spot just because of his experience. Plus, he would really need to screw up if he were to lose that spot. The Steelers just signed him to an extension that will keep him in Pittsburgh through the 2022 season.
Even if Dwayne isn't QB2, it'll be nice to have him as QB3 in case anything happens to Mason Rudolph and Ben Roethlisberger. I would feel better having Dwayne step in rather than a guy we used to have like Devlin 'Duck' Hodges who lacked a certain level of experience at the NFL level.
We'll see what happens. Still, it's Mason's position to lose, he's the one with the experience, however, Dwayne Haskins Jr. might just give him a run for his money. May the best QB come out on top. Maybe one of these guys will be the future.
