ESPN feels Ray-Ray McCloud could step into the Slot position if JuJu Smith-Schuster leaves

JuJu Smith-Schuster could be leaving Pittsburgh soon. I hate to say it because I wanted JuJu to stay in Pittsburgh and if he ends up staying I would be happy, but the Steelers are in cap hell this offseason. It just doesn't look like the Steelers will be able to match what the market will offer JuJu unless they can lock him up before March 17th.

Ray-Ray signed a $750,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020 according to Spotrac. The Steelers can tender him for $2 million in 2021 because he is a restricted free agent. ESPN believes the Steelers could re-sign Ray-Ray and move him into the slot position once JuJu Smith-Schuster leaves.

Personally, I would keep Ray-Ray, but I would look at free agency, the NFL draft for a new slot receiver, or use James Washington if JuJu ends up going to another team.

Ray-Ray McCloud had only 20 receptions for 77 yards in 2020. The Steelers can keep him as their punt returning man and find a better option to fill in the slot position. It will take some big shoes to fill the slot position if JuJu Smith-Schuster does leave and I believe Ray-Ray will not be able to fill those shoes.
