According to Goal Line Football, an agency that represents professional football players and coaches, defensive back Arthur Maulet is signing with the Steelers.
Maulet has bounced around the league after signing with his hometown Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2017. After a year with the Saints, he was released in September of 2018 and signed with the Colts, only to be signed back by New Orleans in November.
On Jan. 29, 2019, Maulet signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets and it's in New York where he was most productive. In two seasons with the Jets, Maulet started 11 of 23 games and recorded 67 total tackles, 49 of them being solos, five tackles for losses, one sack, two interceptions, seven passes defended and a fumble recovery that was returned for a touchdown.
Maulet started six games for the Jets at right cornerback in 2019 and then started five games at strong safety in 2020 for New York, so he's a versatile defensive back, which is great for the Steelers, especially after losing Mike Hilton to free agency and releasing Steven Nelson as a cap casualty this offseason. Maulet could add depth at the safety position and should be a contributor on special teams, as well.
Maulet started for the Jets at right cornerback against the Steelers in Week 16 of the 2019 season. He recorded eight total tackles, four of them being solos, in the Jets' 16-10 win over the Steelers.
