Kevin Colbert can be credited to building some of these great Steelers teams over the years. However, as time has gone on, he has hinted at a possible retirement and or break from the league. However, this morning it seems as if Colbert might decide to join the Detroit Lions in a GM role.
Colbert to stay in the league and continue being the General Manager would have to be made quite a significant offer and it seems that the Lions have done just that. He is very close to accepting a deal with the lions. From 1990-1999 he spent time with the Lions as a Pro Scouting Director.
After spending time with the Lions, he then moved back to his hometown from 2000 until now, he has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is credited with drafting some of the best players in Steelers history and acquiring some great ones too. He has won two Super Bowls and appeared in a third.
If this is the end of the line with Colbert and the Steelers, we wish him the best in his future endeavors and hope he is the man to bring the Detroit Lions back on the map. If I am a Lions fan, I would be excited about this news. Of course, expect some great players being found and joining your team and hopefully, just hopefully, he can find your Ben Roethlisberger and take you to a Championship.
