It was the right move by the Steelers to not go All-In on JJ Watt

The JJ Watt sweepstakes officially are over. The Steelers may have lost out on having all 3 Watt Brothers in Pittsburgh, but it was the right decision. The Cardinals are overpaying JJ Watt just to gain his services. Watt signed a 2-year $31 million dollar contract with $23 million guaranteed. Congratulations on JJ getting a great contract, but those numbers weren't going to come close in Pittsburgh.

Gaining JJ Watt would have been a luxury for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He would have been a rotational player for Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt. Although I must admit it would have been one of the most dominant defensive line rotations ever in the NFL, but it is just not worth the cap problems down the road. The Steelers need to sign TJ Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Devin Bush to long-term deals down the road.

At the end of the day, the Steelers have one of the best if not the best defensive line in the NFL right now. Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt do not get the respect they deserve. They're the rock that holds the defensive line together. The Steelers have also led the league in sacks in the last four seasons. Although they went missing during the Steelers only playoff game this season they will keep it in the back of their minds and rewrite the story if they get another shot in 2021. The Steeler's defensive line knows how to bring it and the Steelers made the right decisions not to overpay JJ Watt.
