Former Steelers tight end and South Allegheny graduate, Jesse James, returns to Heinz Field on Monday night. James has recorded six receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown this season with the Bears.
James wasn't receiving many snaps early in the season, but his playing time has increased over the last two weeks. James dove and hauled in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Justin Fields in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.
James was a fifth-round pick by the Steelers in 2015 and spent four seasons in Pittsburgh. He then signed with the Lions in free agency in March of 2019, but he lasted just two seasons in Detroit, as things didn't pan out.
James wasn't the only former Penn State tight end who had an impressive touchdown grab this past Sunday, as Pat Freiermuth had a game-winning juggling touchdown catch in the back of the end zone against the Browns.
Even though they didn't play with each other at Penn State, James is actually close with Freiermuth, as the two train together in the offseason.
