Many 'Draft Experts' continue to mock the Steelers selecting EDGE in the First Round of the Draft

Why do many NFL mock draft experts continue to think the Steelers will draft another EDGE in the 2021 NFL draft? That is not their biggest need right now going into the 2021 season. Do these 'draft experts' not realize the Steelers have Alex Highsmith? Unless they feel he is not developed enough to take over Bud Dupree's old position in Pittsburgh there should be no reason why the Steelers should select an outside linebacker in the first round of the NFL draft. If I were the Steelers I would select either an offensive lineman or a premier running back in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.

CBS Sports recently mocked the Steelers selecting Penn State's EDGE Jayson Oweh in the first round of the NFL draft. Oweh is a talented EDGE rusher, but he seems like a reach for the Steelers in the first round. Even CBS says Oweh is raw right now and that is not what the Steelers need at this point. They need players who can come in and contribute right away. They do not need projects.

CBS on the Steelers first-round selection: "The Steelers need a QB, offensive tackle, RB, and CB. But given the way, the board fell they opt for a pass rusher. Oweh is raw but has the physical tools the Steelers covet, and in a few years, we could be talking about him the way we were talking about Bud Dupree once he grew into his role."

There have been plenty of mock drafts who think the Steelers could go with an edge rusher in the first round. In fact, Pro Football Focus recently released their newest mock draft and had the Steelers selecting two EDGE rushers in the first and second round of the NFL draft.

Yes, the Steelers love their linebackers, but they do not love them that much to select two in the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL draft. The Steelers need to focus on their offensive line and running back position then I would look at adding an inside linebacker before drafting an outside linebacker. Even the tight-end position in Pittsburgh needs to be filled before they look at an outside linebacker, to be honest.
