Steelers.com released episode 10 of "The Standard" yesterday and it covered the ramp-up to training camp. Footage and soundbites from OTAs and minicamp were in the episode, and Mike Tomlin had some interesting comments in regards to wanting to see inside linebacker Devin Bush matched up with running back Najee Harris in training camp.
"I'm going to reserve 22 for Devin Bush," Tomlin said to no one in particular.
Tomlin then was captured talking to Bush and Harris.
"I like matchups. I want to see this a lot," Tomlin said to both Bush and Harris. "We're going to do it all. You're gonna have to cover him, he's gonna have to pick you up in blitz. We're gonna do it all. We're gonna find everybody's soft underbelly. We're gonna sharpen iron on iron."
Bush suffered an ACL tear in Week 6 last year against the Browns, but the Michigan product expects to be "100 percent" for training camp. A matchup between Harris and Bush during training camp should definitely be interesting, both in backs-on-backers and 7-on-7.
Steelers training camp will open on July 22 at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, and their first padded practice will be on July 28 at Heinz Field, which is also the first practice open to the public. All of the team’s open practices will begin at 1:30 p.m. except the final two on Aug. 17 and 18, which will start at 12:15 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
