Many NFL players like to head to the sun during their offseason training. None seem to like the cold weather up north and I don't blame any of them for not liking it. Minkah Fitzpatrick has been training in Delray Beach, Florida during the 2021 offseason so far. He was recently seen on Campus at the University of South Florida during the offseason as well.
In 2020 the Minkah effect was felt on the football field as he was targeted 18 times all season and allowed only 7 receptions. He finished the 2020 season with 64 tackles and 4 interceptions. His productivity isn't seen through his statistics because many NFL quarterbacks are afraid to throw Fitzpatrick's way. The majority of the throws seem to be coming toward Terrell Edmund's side in 2020. He was targeted 50 times and allowed 28 receptions. That is a huge difference from Minkah Fitzpatrick.
The Steelers will need to find a way to disguise Minkah a little bit more in 2021. They need to try and make their opponents think it is safe to throw to his side, but give Minkah the opportunity for more turnovers. Minkah can play Safety and the Cornerback positions. In Miami, he played as an outside cornerback and that is where he feels comfortable playing. It will be interesting to see what the Steelers decide to do with Minkah in 2021, but one thing is for sure he is training to walk into the 2021 season to be even better than he was in 2020.
