Earlier this month, Alabama running back Najee Harris revealed on the "Adam Schefter Podcast" that he had met Mike Tomlin in-person at the Alabama pro day and really enjoyed his Zoom call with the team that featured Tomlin, Kevin Colbert and the defensive staff.
Harris has been linked to the Steelers in a ton of mock drafts and draft analyst Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network says Harris is the number one player that they're after in the draft.
Harris was on ESPN's "First Take" yesterday and Stephen A. Smith, who is a Steelers fan, asked Harris about his interactions with the Steelers and if there's a chance that he could end up being in Pittsburgh.
"You know, this is the draft process," Harris said. "So, I don't make the decisions. The only thing I can control is me training and working out and stuff like that. I can't control that. You know, it'll be good to be a Steeler. At the end of the day, I just want to know where I'm setting up shop at for the next couple of years and what colors I'll be wearing. If it is the Steelers, you know, I'll be more than happy. But like I said, I can't control stuff like that."
To no surprise, Harris was coy with his response to Stephen A., as he really doesn't know what's going to happen next week at the draft. The mock drafts are usually off minus the first couple of picks and it's really unpredictable. Harris might not even be on the board when the Steelers pick at 24th overall, as the Dolphins are reportedly interested in Harris also and they pick at No. 18. It should be interesting to see how it unfolds next week.
