Steelers vice president of football and business administration, Omar Khan, had an interview with the Bears for their general position on Monday, but the Bears are moving in a different direction. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Chiefs’ assistant director of player personnel Ryan Poles as their next general manager.
This is good news for the Steelers, as Khan is a top candidate to replace Kevin Colbert, who is reportedly expected to retire following the 2022 NFL Draft.
Khan has been highly regarded as a cap guru during his 21 seasons with the Steelers organization, as he always finds a way to maneuver the salary cap. Along with Khan, Steelers pro scouting coordinator Brandon Hunt is also a top internal candidates to replace Colbert. Colbert has been the head of football operations for the Steelers since 2000.
