Tight End Pat Freiermuth appeared in four games with Penn State in 2020 then he suffered a shoulder injury against Ohio State. After the Ohio State game, Freiermuth played with a shoulder harness on his right shoulder against Maryland and Nebraska. He would eventually be ruled out of their Iowa game and underwent season-ending shoulder surgery after Thanksgiving in 2020.
After having surgery Freiermuth would eventually declare for the 2021 NFL draft. Throughout his pre-draft process, Pat would meet with many different teams, but the one team that caught his eye was the Pittsburgh Steelers. After meeting with the Steelers TE Coach Alfredo Roberts he said he would like to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Little did he know Freiermuth would be drafted by the Steelers on night two of the 2021 NFL draft.
Although Pat Freiermuth did undergo season-ending surgery on his shoulder surgery was very successful and he says his shoulder is fully healthy now. Freiermuth says he was cleared for football three weeks ago and he had surgery at the right time so he can be fully healthy. He is looking forward to becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler as he is excited to get into the offense and make some plays for the team.
