Peter King says Ben Roethlisberger needs to lose 20 pounds and show up in shape to Training Camp

Much of the National Media have been speculating what type of Ben Roethlisberger will show up in 2021. Normally Ben Roethlisberger doesn't walk into training camp in the best shape he can possibly be in, but he has been gradually losing weight each season he does play football. Many in the media feel the best chance Ben Roethlisberger has to be successful in 2021 is to lose weight and come into training camp in the best shape he has ever been in. That would mean no more beer and pizza for Ben Roethlisberger during the offseason.

Mike Florio and Peter King recently discussed Ben Roethlisberger coming into the 2021 season and one of the biggest topics was in regards to Ben Roethlisberger's weight. King feels Ben Roethlisberger should lose at least 20 pounds in the offseason and show up to training camp in top shape like Tom Brady or Drew Brees does. He feels like Ben Roethlisberger refuses to go on the Tom Brady diet during the offseason and if he were Mike Tomlin or Art Rooney II he would have told Ben Roethlisberger he better show up to training camp in the best shape he has ever been in.

Ben Roethlisberger is not getting any younger and eventually, father time is going to catch up to Ben Roethlisberger. Last season he did not look that bad and actually was the best AFC North quarterback if you look at the statistics. He was even getting the ball out much faster in 2020 than he has ever been. The problem is the Steelers have absolutely no running game at all. They ended up finishing last in 2020 and Ben Roethlisberger ended up having to throw the ball more than 50 times in 2020. It eventually took a toll on Ben Roethlisberger.

I think if Ben Roethlisberger does show up committed to training camp he will give the Steelers the best chance to succeed in 2021. If Ben Roethlisberger goes down you can kiss the Steeler's chances goodbye because it is either Ben Roethlisberger or fail at this point. There is no other way around it anymore. It's do or die with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.
