PFF has Mocked the Steelers Selecting CB Asante Samuel Jr in the First Round of the 2021 NFL Draft

Very seldom does anyone get the Steelers pick right. I see it every single season. Everyone thinks they know what the Steelers are going to do and then they do the complete opposite. The Steelers roster situation is going to be desperate after having 25 free agents in the 2021 offseason. In fact, 19 are unrestricted free agents. The Steelers are going to look completely different from here on out. Pro Football Focus has just released their mock draft for the 2021 NFL Draft and they have the Steelers selecting CB Asante Samuel Jr from Florida State.

Here is the case PFF makes for the pick: "There’s a roster overhaul heading to Pittsburgh this offseason, and the cornerback position is one that may look different in 2021. Samuel is a good fit for the Steelers because he works well in off-coverage and zone schemes with his eyes on the quarterback, all leading to a forced incompletion percentage of 20.2% over the last two seasons, seventh among 157 recent NFL prospects."

The Steelers have swung and missed on the secondary time and time again in the NFL Draft. We would rather them pick someone up in free agency than swing and miss again. Does anyone remember how Artie Burns worked out for Pittsburgh? Yikes. The safer pick for the Steelers would be the offensive line, running back, or tight end position. The Steelers really need to focus on the offensive side of the ball this draft.
