PFF says the Best Case Scenario for the Steelers would be for Ben Roethlisberger to be gone

There have been many takes in regards to the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger ever since they were eliminated from the Browns in the Wild-Card Playoffs. Pro Football Focus has now given their take toward Ben and the Steelers. In an article called Best-Case, Worst Case Scenarios for all 32 teams they say the best-case scenario for the Steelers would be for Ben Roethlisberger to be gone and the rebuild commences. The worst-case scenario would be for Ben Roethlisberger to get restructured and other free agents like Bud Dupree, JuJu Smith-Schuster are prioritized over Cam Sutton and Mike Hilton.

PFF feels the best case scenario will not happen in Pittsburgh. They feel he will be back on a restructured deal heading into 2021. Even if Ben Roethlisberger is restructured heading into 2021 they will still have little cap space to work with. Therefore the Steelers need to allocate that cap space into cornerbacks Cam Sutton and Mike Hilton over Bud Dupree or JuJu Smith-Schuster. PFF says Sutton and Hilton will cost three times less than what JuJu Smith-Schuster will cost and generated 2.5 times more WAR combined than the wide-receiver in 2020. As for Bud Dupree, Pro Football Focus says the two corners generated six times as much WAR than Dupree and will cost much lesser.

Steelers fans will not like hearing any of this because some fans are very sensitive when it comes to Ben Roethlisberger. The reason why is because that is all they have ever known for 18 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. At the end of the day, the Steelers need to do what is best for the organization. If they feel they can restructure Ben for one more year then that is fine, but for god's sake, they need to start looking for their future quarterback.
