The Steelers are preparing to sign TJ Watt long-term, this is an extension that needs to happen. When it's all said and done, TJ could end up signing one of the richest contracts in franchise history.
Our official prediction is that TJ is going to get a deal somewhere around 5-year, $140 million dollar deal with $105 million guaranteed. If you do the math, that means that TJ would be making around $28 million per season which is monster money for his position. It's well deserved.
This would be the best move for the Steelers to make. He's still due a DPOY award. He's been snubbed twice. It would be smart to invest in this player.
The sky's the limit for TJ Watt and the Steelers. He's obviously well on his way to making it up there with Steelers royalty and truly making a name for himself and not being known as "JJ Watt's Little Brother" and I'm sure that's all he wants.
Spotrac thinks that TJ Watt will sign a contract at 5-year, $127,364,650. Personally, I find this estimate to be pretty conservative. I think TJ Watt is warranted more than that. So, I think with the leverage he has and his upward trajectory, he will end up getting close to our prediction.
