The Steelers have been mocked to draft either a running back or offensive linemen in the first round of the NFL draft so far. Minus one mock draft who says the Steelers will select an edge going into the first round. Pro Football Focus recently mocked two fresh rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft and they have the Steelers selecting Tackle Samuel Cosmi in the first round.
PFF says the Pittsburgh Steelers are cap-strung this offseason and will likely watch Alejandro Villanueva take off in free agency. Cosmi would be a great candidate to replace Villanueva in the 2021 NFL Draft. Pro Football Focus says Cosmi was excellent in 2018 and 2019 for the Texas Longhorns. He earned a PFF grade of 79.7 and 83.9 respectively. In 2020 he took it to another level with the Longhorns and earned a PFF grade of 90.5.
Pro Football Focus loves to isolate their performance to true pass sets when projecting offensive linemen going into the NFL. On those plays, Cosmi was the sixth-highest graded tackle in the FBS this season. He has incredible movement skills for his position and should be able to handle NFL quicks a lot better than most of PFF's prospects.
