Pro Football Focus believes Steelers' first-round pick Najee Harris will break Franco Harris' franchise rookie running back record for total yards in 2021. PFF posted a tweet today that projected Najee to have 1,397 total yards and nine touchdowns in his rookie campaign.
Franco had 1,235 total yards in his rookie season in 1972 -- 1,055 yards rushing and 180 receiving yards, along with 10 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown, so PFF believes Najee will have two fewer touchdowns than Franco in his rookie year.
PFF didn't specify how Najee will get 1,397 total yards, but he should have a good chance of surpassing 1,055 yards rushing, especially with the volume of carries that he'll be getting as the feature running back.
It's also important to note that Franco put up his rookie numbers in a 14-game schedule and Harris will be playing in a 17-game schedule.
