The Steelers are going to have a tough cap situation heading into the 2021 offseason. Pittsburgh is currently still over the cap with Maurkice Pouncey and Vance McDonald off the books. The Steelers could get some major help with the cap when Ben Roethlisberger decides to either restructure his contract or retire. Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt are expected to restructure their contracts as well. So eventually the Steelers will have some wiggle room to sign some free agents in the offseason.
Pro Football Focus says it is hard to see the Steelers bring back JuJu, Conner, and Villanueva for the 2021 season. The Steelers need to be frugal this offseason because they have to worry about their future. That future would involve TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick who will be PAID after their rookie contracts run out. PFF says it is hard to see the Steelers bring back all three players because of the price points they will command in free agency.
The likeliest starter the Steelers could bring back is Matt Feiler. PFF feels the Steelers can get Feiler at a decent price and move him back into the starting tackle position with the loss of Villanueva. The Steelers can also bring back Zach Banner who won a starting job on the Steelers offensive line, but his season was cut short due to a torn ACL. It sounds almost guaranteed Banner will be back because he said his exit interview was amazing.
