Roethlisberger donated to the Girard K9 Arson Team along with 15 other Agencies in the Country

Over the years Ben Roethlisberger has donated grants to many different K-9 organizations. Ben typically gets a lot of hate by the National Media in the offseason, but the majority of the media do not talk about the good he does off of the football field. Ben says his father has always instilled love and respect for animals in him throughout his life and that is one of the main reasons why he loves to give back to police and fire departments as well as giving resources to many communities to allow these brave men and women to return home safely.

Ben Roethlisberger's Foundation recently gave out fifteen different grants to police and fire K-9 programs around the country. One of those programs was the Girard K-9 Arson Team. The City was very grateful for Roethlisberger's contributions and said Maya a K-9 recently graduated from the State Farm Arson Dog Training Program and were also certified according to the standards of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Those funds will help Maya and the fire department to help meet their vital mission.

Brian Pearson of the Girard Professional Firefighters Association: “The City of Girard Fire Department extends a warm thank you to the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation for their generous grant award,” Brian Pearson said. “The funding will go a long way towards sustaining our K-9 Arson Unit which began last fall with the acquisition of an accelerant-detecting K-9.”

Roethlisberger's foundation will distribute more than $90,000 dollars to Police and Fire Departments around the country this year. Grants funds will help with training, replacing retired K-9's, and allow them to get the necessary needs to help with training.
