There has been much speculation throughout the offseason if the Steelers are going to sign any other free agents after the 2021 NFL draft. One of the names that have been rumored to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers is offensive tackle Russell Okung. ESPN predicted the Steelers will sign Okung after the NFL draft, but that doesn't seem to be the case according to Okung himself.
Okung took to Twitter and said ' ESPN's trying to predict that I will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. Truth is they cannot afford me.' Russell is right that the Steelers cannot afford him right now, but what if they paid him in bitcoin? I'm kidding.
ESPN thinks the Steelers could pay Okung a one-year deal worth $6.5 million dollars which would take up most of their cap space because right now they only have $4 million. The Steelers would also have to free up some cap to make that work as well.
It is a shame Okung might not be on the market heading into free agency in 2022 because then they could definitely make it work, but for now, it doesn't look like Okung is coming to Pittsburgh in 2021.
