No. It's as simple as that. He was a liability at the tackle position last season and that's an understatement. He surely isn't worth the high price tag the Ravens paid.
He signed a 2-year deal worth up to $14M. I mean, surely the depth would've been nice. However, the price tag surely wouldn't have been worth it.
I do wish Alejandro the best. However, I just think it's best that both sides get a fresh start. Just would've been nice if he didn't sign with a rival. I personally think that if he had waited, he might've ended up signing with the Broncos and go back with Former position coach Mike Munchak.
I think the Steelers have options at the position. So, the loss of Big Al' won't leave too much of an effect on the Steelers. Still, I'm sure he's a good teammate and I think his teammates will miss him.
Chukwuma Okafor could be slotted into that starting spot come Week 1. After him though, I'm not that confident in our depth. I just need to see how our Rookies play in training camp and see if anyone else could challenge Okafor for the position. We will see.
As I said above, we wish him the best. I think he had a decent career in Pittsburgh. I have just seen a clear regression and that makes me want to see an improvement in the position. The Steelers will be missing Pouncey and Villaneuva's leadership I'm sure. However, I know David DeCastro can hold it down.
