Steelers are reportedly monitoring Terrell Edmunds; seems unlikely that they'll land Tyrann Mathieu

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler released an article on Wednesday outlining NFL free-agency buzz for all 32 teams. And in regards to the Steelers, Fowler said the Steelers are monitoring Terrell Edmunds, who is still unsigned. He also said safety Damontae Kazee, who played for the Cowboys last year, is on the Steelers radar.

It's been really quiet on Edmunds so far in free agency. There haven't even been any reports on other teams expressing interest in him. I imagine that he would re-sign with the Steelers on a relatively cheap deal.

The Steelers are usually not very active in free agency, but they spent nearly $87 million on six outside free agents last week. There's been a lot of speculation about Tyrann Mathieu coming to the Steelers on social media, but Fowler would be surprised if it came to fruition.

"Yes, we hear the chatter about Tyrann Mathieu, who plays with the kind of edge that would seamlessly fit in Pittsburgh," Fowler said. "But I'm not sure how real that actually is."

At this point in Mathieu's career, I think he wants to win another Super Bowl and the Steelers are really not set up to make a run at a title. They still have a lot of holes to address and they are behind the eight-ball at the quarterback position compared to the rest of the AFC. Mathieu paired with Minkah Fitzpatrick as a safety duo would be a sight to see, but I think Mathieu ends up landing with either the Colts or Cowboys.
