The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the National News as of late, but for the wrong reasons. Their cornerback Justin Layne was arrested recently and is facing several charges including a felony that consists of transportation of a firearm outside of a vehicle according to jail records in Lake County, Ohio. Layne was booked into the Lake County Jail after 3 a.m. Friday morning.
The Steelers say they're aware of the incident but are still gathering information and the organization did not have a further comment at this time. Layne recently saw the Judge this morning and was released on a personal bond. His next court date is scheduled for May 5th.
It will be interesting to see what the Steelers do with Justin Layne because typically the Steelers will release players like Layne without any questions, but they're currently very thin at the cornerback position and the Steelers typically do not like wasting 3rd round draft picks. So the Steelers will need to have a talk with Justin Layne and make a tough decision if they want to cut ties or just reprimand him for his behavior off of the football field.
