The Steelers announced on Friday afternoon that they have defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal to his four-year rookie contract. Leal is third-round pick out of Texas A&M.
Leal had a team-high 8.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for a loss in 2021 for the Aggies in 12 games. Leal is expected to be in the defensive line rotation in Year 1, and could see even more action if Stephon Tuitt doesn't return.
"I bring youth, confidence, I'm extremely disruptive and I'm smart on the field," Leal said. "I am intelligent when it comes to what I see, my instincts and following those, so I feel like that's something to bring to the table."
With Leal signing his rookie deal, Kenny Pickett and Calvin Austin III are the only remaining members of the Steelers' rookie class that remain unsigned. Along with Leal, George Pickens, Connor Heyward, Marcus Robinson and Chris Oladokun have all signed.
