The Steelers ended up having an unexpected bye this week as there was a COVID-19 outbreak in the Titans organization with 10 players and nine team staff members testing positive that caused the Steelers-Titans game on Sunday to be rescheduled to Oct. 25.
The last time the Steelers had a bye in Week 4 was in 2012, which just so happened to come against the Eagles, the same opponent that the Steelers will face at Heinz Field in Week 5 this year. Pittsburgh won the 2012 contest against Philadelphia, 16-14. The Steelers are 5-3 in their next game when coming off an early bye week since 1990.
The Steelers under Mike Tomlin have fared well coming off bye weeks. Since 2007, the Steelers are 9-4 in the following game off a bye week, according to Pro Football Reference. The past three years the Steelers have won their next meeting after coming off a bye and are 4-1 in their next game when playing at Heinz Field after a bye under Tomlin. Since 1990, the Steelers are 19-12 after an off week.
