The Steelers sound serious about drafting Najee Harris if he falls to them in the 2021 NFL draft

It looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are seriously looking to add a feature running back in the 2021 NFL draft. This is music to my ears because the Steelers running game in 2021 was atrocious. Finishing dead last in the running game is not very common with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The organization loves to run the football and they love to do it physically. So now Art Rooney II, Mike Tomlin, and Kevin Colbert look to have taken on the task to fix their running game in the 2021 offseason. They have shown very strong interest in Alabama's running back Najee Harris.

Harris recently sat down with Adam Schefter and said one of his best interviews he has done during his NFL pre-draft process has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He says they brought their entire management and technical committee to the meetings. Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin, and members of the Steelers defense were also at the meeting with Harris.

Although Harris did say one of his best interviews was with the Steelers he did say he had great interviews with the Dolphins and Bills too. The Dolphins are a big roadblock for the Steelers going into the 2021 NFL draft. They do have good running backs, but it looks like they have their eyes on Najee Harris as well. If Harris is not taken by the Dolphins before the Steelers you can bet the Steelers will be taking Najee Harris with their No. 24 pick in the 2021 NFL draft. If the Steelers end up passing on Najee you can kiss him goodbye to the Buffalo Bills.

Mike Tomlin even had questions for Najee Harris as he said they were just "get to know you questions," and were nothing out of the ordinary. There is no doubt the Steelers are showing heavy interest in Najee Harris as they have met with him in person and through zoom meetings.

One of the sure ways the Steelers could land Najee Harris is to trade up into the 17th spot with the Las Vegas Raiders, but the Steelers would have to give up some draft capital in order for it to happen. The way the Steelers are approaching their meetings with Najee Harris it would not surprise me if they did trade up to get him which would be a rare move by the Steelers for a running back.

The 2021 NFL draft is one of the most interesting drafts the Steelers have had in quite some time because there is little room for error as they have lost some key players in the 2021 offseason. Either way, they need a premier running back and Najee Harris would be the best fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
