We are now less than one month away from the 2021 NFL draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers will have the No. 24 pick going into the 2021 draft. They did not have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft because they traded it for Minkah Fitzpatrick which was an exceptional trade with the Miami Dolphins.
This year the Steelers will be limping into the 2021 NFL draft with many holes to fill. They need help at the running back, offensive line, inside linebacker, outside linebacker, cornerback, and many other positions. Just pick a position and the Steelers will need help in it going into the 2021 season. The question is who would be the best fit for the Steelers to draft at No. 24?
RB Najee Harris - Typically it is not a good idea to draft a running back in the first round, but Najee Harris could be the game changer the Pittsburgh Steelers need to help fix their running issues in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are very high on Najee Harris and have given him a lot of attention in the offseason so far. There has been a report circulating around saying they're considering him as a first-round draft pick if he falls to the Steelers with their No. 24 pick. Harris posses size, speed, and is an all-around lethal every-down back who can bring the physical running game back to the Steelers.
Honorable Mentions if Najee Harris is gone by the Steelers pick in the first-round: Javonte Williams and Travis Etienne. Both are capable of being elite running backs with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
LB Zaven Collins - It is very apparent the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a solid linebacker who can play next to Devin Bush this offseason. With the departure of Vince Williams, the need for an inside linebacker has grown increasingly in Pittsburgh. Insert Zaven Collins who is one of the most versatile linebackers in the 2021 NFL draft. You can put him in the middle of the field or on the edge and he will produce. He is a special talent who the Steelers could add in the first round of the NFL draft if he falls to them. The Steelers need to start becoming more versatile on the defensive side of the ball and Collins can give them that in the middle of the field. Can you imagine a duo of Zaven Collins and Devin Bush? That would be ELITE.
Honorable Mentions if Zaven Collins is gone by the Steelers pick in the first-round: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Micah Parsons. Both are capable of becoming elite linebackers next to Devin Bush on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
CB Patrick Surtain II - The Pittsburgh Steelers need some help at the cornerback position heading into the 2021 NFL season. They do feel Cam Sutton would be an upgrade over Steven Nelson, but if Joe Haden or Cam Sutton go down the Steelers are very thin at the cornerback position. Insert Patrick Surtain II who could become a starter right away at the cornerback position if the Steelers were to draft him. Patrick Surtain is considered to be a top-15 pick going into the 2021 NFL draft and if he ends up falling to the No. 24 pick the Steelers would almost have to take him. He posses elite length and a high football IQ. He is a top-tier cornerback in the 2021 NFL draft and should become an elite cornerback in the NFL for years to come.
Honorable Mentions if Patrick Surtain II is gone by the Steelers pick in the first-round: Caleb Farly and Jaycee Horn are capable of becoming elite cornerbacks for the Pittsburgh Steelers to put on the opposite side of Joe Haden in Pittsburgh.
OT Sam Cosmi - One of the biggest needs besides the running back position for the Pittsburgh Steelers is the offensive line position going into the 2021 NFL draft. The bad news is there could be a big run at the offensive line position at the beginning of the NFL draft. The good news is the offensive line position runs very deep in the 2021 NFL draft. Sam Cosmi would be a great pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is extremely physical who loves to pancake his opponents. Cosmi would be a very powerful offensive lineman to put with Kevin Dotson. Those two would create havoc on the offensive line. Cosmi could fall into the second round because of how deep the offensive line position is and that is why I feel the Steelers should look at adding an elite playmaker in the first round instead of reaching for an offensive lineman they could get in the second or third round. Cosmi would be a great fit with the Steelers though.
Honorable Mentions if Sam Cosmi is gone by the Steelers pick in the first-round: Teven Jenkins and Dillon Randuz are capable of becoming elite offensive tackles for the Pittsburgh Steelers to put on the offensive line on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
