The 2021 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET. We already know the Steelers' opponents and that they'll have the toughest schedule in 2021 based on their opponents' combined record of 155-115-2 (.574) in 2020, so all it's really about is seeing the order of the games and how many primetime games the Steelers will have.
Another thing to look for is whether the Steelers will open at Heinz Field in Week 1, being that they haven't had a home opener in Week 1 since the 2014 season when they opened against the Browns. It's by far the longest streak in the league without having a home opener in Week 1.
The reason for the Steelers not hosting a Week 1 home game since 2014 has a lot to do with PNC Park being in close proximity to Heinz Field, and that they share parking lots for their respective venues.
Either Sunday, Sept. 12 or Monday, Sept. 13 will be the date of the Steelers season opener this year, and looking at the Pirates' schedule they host the Nationals at 1:05 p.m. on Sept. 12 and are off the next day on Sept. 13. So, unless the Steelers host a Sunday night game or a Monday night game, they'll be on the road for the seventh consecutive year in Week 1.
The Steelers will play the Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Broncos, Bears, Lions, Raiders, Titans and Seahawks at home in 2021. On the road, they will play the Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Chiefs, Packers, Vikings, Chargers and Bills.
