Pittsburgh's Steelers JuJu Smith-Schuster has truly captivated the city in many ways. After having the whole Antonio Brown meltdown situation, he was truly a breath of fresh-air. With Coronavirus still well underway and a very different NFL Season approaching the next few years of the Steelers we know and love are very uncertain. My own personal thoughts on this are, if he balls out this year and demands quite a high price, I personally don’t see Pittsburgh able to keep him. With contracts of TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick slowly approaching. According to Spotrac, The Steelers currently only have about 7 Million in cap going into the season. Personally, I want JuJu to stay. He needs to be more consistent however, he’s the type of player the city needs. I just don’t know if we will be able to keep him.
His stats so far have been fairly good. Especially since last year he was dealing with a QB carousel. So far, he has 17 TDs and 2,895 yards with 211 Receptions. Who knows what the future holds? Still, it would very hard to see him in another jersey. He's the type of player you want in the Black & Gold forever. However, with the Steelers skill at drafting other receivers such as Diontae Johnson and new rookie out of ND Chase Claypool. They just might make it easier with high level play. However, being at the game during Schuster's rookie year where he laid out Vontaze Burfict with the crackback block really cemented him as one of my all-time favorite Steelers.
Some of my early predictions for his possible suitors if he leaves are any of the California teams (Most likely 49ers) since it's clear that his family still lives out there, or potentially going to the New York Jets and teaming up with Le'Veon Bell due to their receiver woes and possibly willing to pay him a good price. Players like JuJu definitely deserve to get paid, especially when they give back to the city in the ways that they do.
