The Steelers agreed to terms with former Bills cornerback Levi Wallace on a two-year deal worth $8 million, according to Jordan Schultz. Wallace was a walk-on at Alabama and went undrafted in 2018. He is now on his second contract in the NFL. In 52 career starts with the Bills, Wallace recorded six interceptions and 30 passes defended.
So, with Wallace signed at $4 million per year and Joe Haden unlikely to come back, as it appears that negations haven't gone well with the Steelers. What does this mean for Ahkello Witherspoon? It was reported by Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network on Monday that the Steelers planned on re-signing Witherspoon but some things had to be worked out.
According to Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports, the Steelers talks with Ahkello Witherspoon stalled and they pivoted to Wallace. In addition, Schultz said a team source told him that Wallace is a "starter" for the Steelers. So, unless Witherspoon lowers his price tag, it appears that he's moving on from Pittsburgh after just one season.
