What a story Zach Banner was coming into the 2020 season. He was a player who was not heard of and walked onto the Pittsburgh Steelers and won the starting right tackle position. It was a dream come true for Zach Banner. Until the first game of the 2020 season. What turned into a great story eventually would turn into a nightmare for Zach Banner. He tore his ACL at the beginning of the 2020 season.
After Zach Banner was diagnosed with an ACL tear he was devastated. Banner kept being persistent with Tomlin asking him 'let me stay in the Film room, can we get the IR thing fix, how can I help the Steelers.' He did not want to be replaced on the Pittsburgh Steelers because Banner knew how much work he put in during the offseason. Tomlin ended up having different plans for Banner after he was injured.
Zach Banner on what Mike Tomlin told him after his ACL Injury: “He told me the best thing I could do was the rehab and go home to get that leg ready because 2021 is the comeback season and you are going to come back from this."
It looks like Zach has fully recovered from his ACL tear and the Steelers feel he has made remarkable progress during his rehabilitation. That is why they have signed him to a two-year contract. It looks like Banner will be back in the starting line-up, but they will slowly ease him in. The Steelers showed they have committed to Zach Banner this offseason and now it is time for Banner to show he is committed to them by staying healthy on the football field. It looks like he is doing that in the offseason. He is workout every morning, eating healthy, and committed to coming back stronger in 2021. Hopefully, Banner can stay healthy and play a lot of football in 2022.
